Learn the art of marbling and create your own marbled silk and papers
about this workshop
Sign up and learn the tranquil, meditative process of suminagashi in this upcoming workshop at Cardinal Gift Shop on March 25 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or uninspired, this simple process is perfect for you. Suminagashi dates back to the 10th century in Japan, and translates to “floating” or “spilled'“ ink. In this class, you’ll float colorful inks on the surface of a water bath, and explore the meditative process of marbling as you create your own marbled silks and paper designs.
You’ll learn a short history of the process, be led through a short instruction, and then flow with ink, paper, silk, water, and breath, and leave with a collection of handmade papers plus a marbled silk scarf.
These papers a great for letter writing, framing, and the silk bandana is way to wear marbled flare. We can’t wait to marble with you. Sign up today!
